Megan and Thomas aim to resolve this lack of communication by sharing the necessary information to remain on the same page about each client’s health and wellbeing. In this way, Macros For Muscles views each and every person that walks through the door as an athlete in some way. Athleticism doesn’t need to be viewed from the vantage point of sport only. As we grow older, it is equally important to be able to lift our children and carry our groceries. These require athletic movements and Macros For Muscles argues that the maintenance of athleticism often times requires more than one person; a support system, and people in your corner that understand your unique situation.
Macros For Muscles encompasses both the macro cycles of training program and the macronutrients needed to fuel performance, in sport or in life. We believe in creating strong humans, and working together toward better health, and bigger muscles. We’re not going to turn you into a total meathead, but muscle mass is more important than people think for longevity, metabolism, energy… the list goes on! I started training with Tom in January 2018
2 years previously I had a bad snowboarding accident where I herniated discs and damaged nerves in my back. I had gained a lot of weight and was 218lbs and had a lot of mobility issues. I had tried to get back into exercising multiple times over the past 2 years and each time I would break down and get injured.
From the first meeting with Tom, I felt that he understood my situation. We put together a realistic plan for me to lose weight over the next 6-12 months. As a former athlete I would expect too much too soon for myself. Tom knew when to hold me back to not injure myself again and to push me when the time was right.
His workouts were enjoyable, and they constantly changed. He also explained why we were doing each workout and exercise, so I learned a lot. I only stopped training with Tom because I returned to Ireland and I am now able to work out on my own and set my own programs. In the time I spent training with Tom, I lost 40lbs and am now fittest, leanest and strongest I have ever been. I would definitely recommend Tom as a trainer. I have played competitive sports my whole life and had been working out in the gym for 10 years prior my accident using various Trainers. I worked with Thoms for just over 2 years taking personal training from him weekly. When I first met Thomas, I struggled a bit with some self-conscious body issues, and hadn’t done a ton of strength training before. Over that time frame, Thomas helped me find a passion for health and fitness that I never had before, and make the progress I needed towards a more active and energized lifestyle.
What I appreciated about Thomas and his style of coaching was that I always felt at ease, yet challenged – and was regularly driven to push past my limits. Thomas encouraged me to think and re-visit my goals, and held me to them frequently. More than just lifting weights and building circuits, Thomas educated me on the technical aspects of form and movement to more deeply understand what I was doing and WHY I was doing it. He brought new techniques and motions he was learning from industry seminars and integrated them into our programs.
While struggling with a shouler injury, we also worked on mobility and stretch movements to find effective ones that strenthened key areas and reduced pain.
